Position Description

The Clinic Manager has responsibility for clinic operations, home health services and on call for PACE of Southwest Michigan. The Clinic Manager in collaboration with the Center Manager is responsible for coordination of all services provided to PACE participants. The Clinic Manager is responsible to ensure staff compliance with policies, procedures and regulations. The Clinic Manager works with the Executive Director, Medical Director, Chief Financial Officer and other leaders on various key responsibilities to ensure program growth and service excellence.

Education: Nursing degree required.

Experience: Business operational experience required. 5 years health care experience with at least 2 years management experience.  Minimum of 1-year experience working with the frail elderly population.  EMR experience required.

Type of Employees Supervised: Clinical and non-clinical staff.

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: MI licensure as required and valid MI driver's license.

Special Training: Only acts within the scope of his or her authority to practice.  Meet a standardized set of orientation and/or individual competencies for the specific position description established by PACE of Southwest Michigan and approved by CMS before working independently.

Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assigned employees involved in daily operation of the program including orientation, competencies, licensure, hiring, coaching and disciplinary process.
  • Completes documentation related to feedback and accountability discussions with direct reports in accordance with organizational policy.
  • Recruits, employs, and retains qualified personnel to maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Responsible for ongoing clinic process improvement to ensure excellence with care delivery.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director on regular basis to implement continuous process improvement for clinic operations
  •  Manages departmental operations in accordance with established fiscal parameters.
  • Coordinates with Center Manager on all program activities related to care planning and implementation, preparation for interdisciplinary conference and daily meetings, family conferences and all related follow up to ensure full compliance and service excellence. 
  • Coordinates with Center Manager on all activities related to new participants and current participants to ensure service excellence.
  • Collaborates with Center Manager daily to ensure IDT is fully engaged; highly functional and demonstrates effective collaboration across all team members.
  • Serves as an active participant on the IDT in order to address problems associated with the delivery of services and staff development needs.  Moderates IDT meeting as needed.
  • Identifies and addresses communication barriers as they arise.
  • Responsible for On-Call services, staffing, monitoring and ongoing process improvement. Serves on on-call rotation.
  • Demonstrates active participation in QC processes in the clinic and program-wide ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Audits medical records assuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with licensing regulations, certification standards, and legal and ethical standards for direct reports.
  • Develops, implements and ensures compliance to program policy and procedures to ensure service excellence and employee satisfaction.
  • Committed to the continuous improvement of the participant experience which includes participant safety, quality of care and excellent service.  
  • Demonstrates awareness of contractual terms for contracted providers.  Builds positive relationship with contracted providers.
  • Represents PACE of Southwest Michigan to external agencies, professional groups, regulatory agencies and other organizations as required.
  • Promotes goals of PACE of Southwest Michigan in the community, the facility, referral agencies, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Actively and purposefully participates with leadership to build organizational excellence.
  • Is an active member of committees required by applicable laws, regulations, or request of the Executive Director or Board of Directors.
  • Adheres to the organization’s Mission and Vision.  Demonstrates leadership behavior that is ethical and transparent.
